Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday added a milestone in Mumbai’s infrastructure expansion. He inaugurated 1st phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport and handed over to the nation. After inauguration, Mumbai joined the list of cities having multiple airports along with London, New York, and Tokyo. The commercial operations on this airport will start from December.

The airport is built on Public Private Partnership model. The airport developed under the partnership between Adani Airport Holdings and CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd) with the total investment of ₹19,650 crore.

The First Fully Digital Airport of India
While working with the existing ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’, Navi Mumbai International Airport will provide services as India’s First Fully Digital Airport as it offers pre-booking vehicle parking slots and online baggage drop and immigration services with ease. The airport consists AI-enabled and fully automated terminals.
No. of Passengers Passing Annually
At the initial phase, the 1,160-hectare airport will help 20 million passengers reach their destination annually through one runway and terminal. The full capacity of the airport will be 155 million passengers annually as there will be four terminals and two runways.
Job Generation and Operating Multiple Airlines
The airport will generate more than two lakh jobs that provide services across various sectors like aviation, logistics, IT, hospitality, and real estate. With the inauguration of first phase of the Airport, several airlines have proposed their operating plans linking various cities across the country.
Anxiety-free Airport
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd (AAHL) said that with the help of Automation and AI services, the airport will be anxiety-free airport.
