Mohammed Shami has once again been left out of the squad for India’s upcoming Australia tour from October 19. Earlier, it was stated that he has some fitness issues and is unavailable for international cricket for India.
Shami has played his last match in the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, he worked on his fitness and returned to play in the IPL. In addition, Shami also appeared in a few domestic matches for Bengal.
Why is Shami not selected for India’s ODI Team, and what is his response to it?
The selection committee of BCCI has not responded to Mohammed Shami’s exclusion from the squad. There is no official statement for his non-selection for the Australia series. Nor is his fitness concern the reason for non-selection.
Coming to the response of Shami, he stated that people want my statement on my exclusion from the squad. The selection process is done by the selection committee, the coach and the captain of the team. Whatever they decide is best for the team and players. I will try my best to upskill my talent and practice more to get sharper for the game.
Furthermore, he gave insights into his fitness updates. He said that his fitness is in the best form right now. But to be consistent with it, he needs to be constantly exercising and practising to be fit. Shami also stated about his performance in the Duleep Trophy. He bowled 35 overs in the competition very comfortably. Hence, there are zero fitness concerns about his bowling.
We can only hope for the best for Mohammed Shami and wish for his return to international cricket for India. He was the match-winner for many previous matches for India. We hope he comes back stronger to the team and wins many more matches for India.
